ABOUT US
SERVICES
Each week the organization serves almost two hundred individuals and families what, for many, is their only hot meal during the week. In addition to a warm meal, along with the generous support of Just One More Ministry, we are also able to provide our guests with a food pantry to help keep them fed during the week. We are also blessed to be able to provide them with clothing and toiletries.
Based on our relationship with various public and private organizations, we are able to provide practical assistance and referrals for such things as job training, homelessness, hunger, warming rooms, substance abuse rehab, mental health conditions and physical abuse shelters.
Our most important role, however, is to make sure our guests are aware of the graciousness of our Lord. We open each meal with a group prayer and our volunteers readily interact with our guests to understand their hardships, discuss how a belief in God will help them overcome these and to pray with and for them. A pastor is also on site to provide even more spiritual guidance. For those who want to take the next step in their faith journey, we provide transportation to Sunday & Holiday services of Bent Tree Church.
HISTORY
Our organization started as Mineral Street Programs & Services with 8 volunteers serving 4 guests when we first opened our doors in the Clarke Square Neighborhood of Milwaukee in 2008. Since then, we have become a staple in this near south side community For the last several years, we rented the Clarke Square Park Pavilion as we searched for a suitable permanent location.
2018 was a transformational year for the organization. First, God led us back to our original home at 2300 W. Mineral Street in what is now Casa de Gracia Church. For those who remember the cramped quarters of the park pavilion you'll be amazed at the beauty of our "new" home which includes a much larger dedicated clothing room, commercial kitchen and large fellowship hall which allows us to triple the number of guests we serve! Additionally, one of our amazing volunteers donated a Mini-Van to the organization which means we can provide significantly more in our food pantry each week. Lastly, God called us to open a second location in the near north side neighborhood of Halyard Park with attendance growing each week as word spreads about our services.
With all these amazing developments, the leadership of the organization (learn more about them here) felt it was the perfect time to officially change our name to what most people knew us by anyway, but also to proclaim that we are a faith-based organization. Welcome to...
Morning Glory Ministries!
